Effect of traditional food for nutritional rehabilitation of hospitalized Severe Acute Malnourished (SAM) children in Dhaka. Year: 2013-2014
Background
Objectives
The overall objective of the project was to evaluate the efficacy of WHO (old) recommended/regular/traditional food to manage severe acute malnutrition (SAM) at facility level.
Methodology
The study was a retrospective cohort study
Severe acute malnourished children (<-3WHZ) aged 6-36 months were selected from the two selected hospitals.
Information on anthropometric, socio-economic and feeding of children was collected from admission to discharge date by the research assistant from the hospital records form.
A structured questionnaire was used for data collection
Result
Forty six records of severe acute malnourished children were screened
Significant weight gain of the respondents (children) was not observed.
Conclusion
Afterward the project was scaled up and is ongoing. Objectives of the study was to find if there is any association of stress with overweight and obesity among adolescents, who were from urban areas of 8 division of Bangladesh. The cross sectional study was conducted among the adolescent students (both boys and girls) of class 9, 10, 11 and 12 grades, those who were regular students of the Institutes.
