BBF undertakes high-quality research works to the circulation of updated knowledge in areas of IYCF, maternal nutrition, child nutrition, and adolescent nutrition. Innovative idea creation on breastfeeding and nutrition, policy analysis, review of IYCF components, building research capacity, the capacity of testing theories into the habitual context of the population are some of the other objectives of these research activities.

BBF conducted 12 round surveillance on breastfeeding, maternal nutrition and complementary feeding since 1998 and completed 67 research studies which are published in international reputed journals. BBF is doing research related activities such as- Publication research compendium, policy level dissemination, student research grant, publication research bulletin, supervision research works of MSc and BSc courses in nutrition etc.
